Love Heart Sweet Gel Polish design with 3D Acrylic Bow

This design shows how to create a valentines heart sweets design across a full set using an acrylic base and gel polish with a 3D acrylic bow.

Hi, I'm Kirsty Meakin from naio nails, in this video I'm going to show you how to do a valentines design, but we're going to do it really cute, inspired by the heart sweets. So because we're using gel polish I'm going to use a base coat, I'm going to base coat all five nails cos' we're going to do this design over all five nails. You just want a nice, thin coat on all five nails. Make sure when you're pulling the product down you cap the end. Now pop those into the LED lamp for one minute. Going to do a full colour on this nail, using barbie girl. Just going to bounce up and drag that down. Just going to do a semi-circle here with that colour as well. And on this one. And i want this to be nice and neat here, because we'll do another one here, which will make it look like a love heart but we will use a different colour for that. So pop those into the lamp and get those curing. So into LED lamp for one minute. While that's in I'm just going to mix some paler shades, so we've got lavish lavender that i want to make a little bit lighter, and also pool party. Then, with some of the white, we're going to lighten those up. Just going to mix those two together so we get a pale, lilac. Going to do the same again with this colour. Remember i said i was going to do another one here, so we're going to use the brush for this because we're going to go, doing this semi-circle. I want a bit more control because we're going round the edge of the pink. So you can see how you've got like a little heart shape as well at the tip there. Going to do a semi-circle here, keep it  nice and neat at the cuticle. Now with this colour, we're going to do a heart at the bottom. We're going to cure that before the gel starts to move. Then we're going to use some of the lilac now that we've mixed. And I'm going to do the same as before but lower down So we've got like a tiered effect, it's quite cute. This is a very cutsie design, very nice and pretty and cute. Then we're going to put some on here. They can go into the lamp now. Going to put a second coat of this pale lilac that we've mixed, over the top again, just a second coat to make it nice and bright. Oh, they'll be good enough to eat these will, these nails. So with just a little quackers we're going to do one of the shapes here. For the love heart sweeties. And just keep moving it out until you get it perfectly round, and as big as you want it. So pop them into the lamp and cure those. So with a bit of white we're going to put some white ones on as well. Don't be afraid to overlap. Still keep it nice and neat at the cuticle. The thumb needs a little bit of pink on. On there. So using the gel polish as the main colours and the detail we're going to do with acrylic nail art paints. Pop those in and cure those. You'll need a second coat because when you overlapping you don't want the other colour that's underneath to show through. And I'm going to put another coat on the yellow. Now I've made sure I've not touched the white because that's still wet, so i was very careful. They can go into the lamp.

So before i paint on these I'm going to take the sticky layer off the colour. I don't want to paint on top of the sticky layer, so we're just using the wipe off solution just to get rid of that sticky layer so they're ready to paint, you can see that they go quite matte. So, mixing a pink, so I want a little bit of red more white. And I'm going to mix those two and I'm doing it in the middle and just touching the red, then touching the pink, sorry, touching the red and then touching the white till i get the right colour. So we use this here, in the center. Now with your detailing brush we're going to use the paint, little bit of water. You're going to put the hearts in, they're all going to be pink. Obviously if you've only got a portion of the circle, of the sweet, then you're going to do a portion of the heart. Once you've done the heart you're going to do a little ring round the edge. You can do your lettering. So you've got your rim. You've got a portion of the heart here. I'd do all that first and then concentrate on your lettering. And you can figure out what you're writing in your sweets. Just go nice and steady, don't rush it. And as soon as you start adding the detail on these it really starts coming together. I add a little bit of water to the paint just so it flows nice on the nail. You don't want all the hearts to be facing the same way so, because we want it like they're just scattered over the nail. So do them all at different angles. Now with this one all I'm going to do is do the little edge. So this little finger we're just using the same colours, we're not necessarily doing the actual sweets. We just want this little nail to flow with the design. So I'm going to come to the thumb now and do all the hearts. So now we've done all the outline and the hearts we can start to write in it. Don't forget, a little bit of water in your paint and it will be a little bit easier to flow on the nail.Make sure your brush is into a nice point. On some of them you'll only be able to fit certain letters on, you won't be able to fit the entire word. And they all need to be capitals. There we are. I'm going to pop onto this full one now some glass slipper, which is a transparent colour with some blue iridescent particles in. Just to add a little bit of shimmer to that colour. I'm going to seal the others with mega gloss. And seal all the artwork. So you see how close I'm getting to the cuticle but I'm not flooding. If you have any dips you can always feed a little bit more of the top coat into those dips and it will smooth the surface. Right, pop those in and cure those for one minute in the LED lamp.

I'm going to top coat them all again with mega gloss. This nail it's the first top coat that it's had. That'll be fine with one, I'm doing two on the others cos' we've used the gel polish as the art medium. I just want to smooth this surface out even more. As i feel i can feel a slight dip there. I'm just going to feed a little bit more product into the dip, so it's smooth. Same with the thumb. That's it, they can go in and cure. While they're curing I'm going to make a 3D bow with two loops. It's like a double looped bow, so I've got some high speed liquid in here to help it set a little bit quicker. So I'm going to make a 3D bow now with two loops so it's going to have a double loop each side. So we're going to get one bead, one at a time, pat it out, bring it into a slight point here and a slight point on the other side. So it's longer than it is deep. Sort of wet this side here, we can pick this up and flip it over. Let that touch. Because this is wet here you get more contact where it touches, it will stick a little bit easier. Just going to add a tiny bit of acrylic just there on that join, just to help it stick. Just adding a little bit of a fold by pressing with the brush just to give it a bit more, so it's a bit more realistic. Same again. So pat it out and bring those sides into a point. This side, make sure it's long enough, make sure it's thin enough. Again, wet this side here and then we can flip it over. Nice and gently. Tiny bit of acrylic for the join. Just as if it's a little bit of glue. Just using it to adhere, so it sticks together nice. And you can start to do a little bit of a fold just to give it a bit of movement so it's more realistic. Into that top loop, don't let it flatten off. We're going to do that again. So now we're going to build this So I'm going to add a bead of acrylic here in the center. Take this loop Place it at an angle where that acrylic is, just so it meets. Take off any excess. And then, another bit of acrylic here. And we're going to add the other loops. Let it just sit in that acrylic so it's got something to stick to. Pop that off, it's quite set that one is, it's one of the first ones we did. Ok, let that just sit in that acrylic there. Now we're going to make a little piece of ribbon that's going to fold over the center. So we're going to get a bead of acrylic, make sure you bleed out the back of the brush. Pat that. Going to bring it in to a long sausage and then I'm going to bring it back this way. So pat it this way, and then bring in the sides. So you get a thinner part running through the center and then it's slightly thicker on the outsides. So it's nice and thin here, little bit thicker there and there. Lift that off. Put it where you want it, press it in. So it's still bendy and it's still wet underneath, it'll fold over nicely. Just putting a tiny bit of acrylic there, cos' I'm a perfectionist and i want it slightly higher that side. And that's your bow done, now we're going to adhere it to the nail. So now we're going to put this bow on. So we need a little bit of clear acrylic, just shy of the cuticle. We're going to take the bow off, pick it up, place it on top. Press it in. And to make it a bit more wearable we're going to pop a little bit of acrylic underneath. It's going to secure it onto the nail and make it less chance of it getting caught. With some of the gel colours we're just going to do some little dots. Onto the bow some little polka dots Just so it flows really nicely with the design. Pop them into the lamp. All I'm going to do now is wipe over quickly with a little bit of the gel residue wipe off solution, just on your little dots. Just take off that sticky layer on your polka dots and finish with some cuticle oil, we've got a bit of coconut cuticle oil here. Replenish any dryness that has been caused by any of the solutions. And that's you valentines love heart sweetie, candy design completely finished.
